History of Cesky Krumlov

Czech Krumlov The town Cesky Krumlov is situated in south of Bohemia, near the Austrian border, in the Vltava river walley. The town is included in UNESCO world heritage list.
The name od the town is derived from the German expression "Krumme Aue" which means "Crooked mead". The expression is related to the countryside where the town is situated: in curved meanders of the Vltava river. The town was first mentioned in 1253, when the city Krumlov was called Chrumbenowe. In 1963 the town was declared as a town of historical heritage and from 1992 the town is included in UNESCO world heritage list.
